PROCEDURES AND POLICIES FOR MAINTAINING AND UTILIZING PHYSICAL, ACADEMIC AND SUPPORT FACILITIES

The institution takes great care and interest in monitoring, maintaining and periodically upgrading the physical, academic and support facilities in the campus spread over 8 acres and 61 cents of land. The College Development Committee works to maintain and upgrade infrastructure requirements of the institute. There are strict rules and regulations for ensuring optimal use and regular maintenance of the facilities.

Maintenance of Physical Facilities
The physical facilities which include the campus area, classrooms, staff rooms, Principal’s room, office room, seminar hall, auditorium, library, laboratories, indoor court, gymnasium etc are monitored and maintained by the collective effort of the management, principal, faculty and non-teaching staff. Stock registers and issue registers are maintained for the proper utilization of library and laboratories. Uninterrupted power supply is maintained with the support of three 6kv online UPS, two 3kv UPS and a 20 kv generator. Wi-fi facility with 200mbps speed is provided in the campus for staff and students. The college has signed AMC(Annual Maintenance Contract) with the concerned companies for the maintenance of UPS, generator, computers, printers, photo copiers, sound system etc. The college has 4 water tanks each having 10000 litre capacity. In addition, there are 2 reserve tanks each of which can hold 50000 litres of water. The college regularly monitors its hygiene and maintenance to ensure continuous and clean water supply in the institution. A toilet complex for boys and girls on the ground floor, separate rest rooms for boys and girls, and wash areas in each floor are well maintained. All buildings in the campus are equipped with adequate fire and safety measures. CCTV is installed in classrooms, library, office, computer lab and verandah for proper supervision of the facilities. Housekeeping services on campus is done by the non-teaching staff on a daily and weekly basis.

Maintenance of Classrooms and Laboratories
Along with two Smart Classrooms, all classrooms are provided with ICT facilities and Wi -Fi facility. Classrooms are equipped with necessary furniture and learning aids. Students are advised to always keep their classrooms neat and tidy. Non-teaching staff regularly clean the classrooms and laboratories. Concerned subject teachers supervise the maintenance and monitoring of resources in their classrooms. Micro teaching lab, Language lab, Psychology lab, Science Museum, Science lab, Mathematics lab, Social science Lab and Computer lab are monitored and maintained by the concerned teachers in charge. Stock registers and issue registers are maintained in the labs by the concerned subject teachers with the help of an LD storekeeper.

Maintenance of ICT facilities
The college has a total of 45 computers with internet facilities. Wi-fi facility with 200 mbps speed is provided in the campus for staff and students. A Reprographic Centre is there in the Library for staff and students which is maintained by the non-teaching staff. Two classrooms are equipped as Smart classrooms with LCD projectors and interactive digital white boards. Other classrooms are provided with ICT facilities like LCD projector, smart tv, and WI-Fi facilities. A Microteaching lab, Digital Language lab and Computer lab function in the campus with state- of- the art facilities. Campus Wi-Fi is maintained by BSNL service provider. The college website is maintained by M2N technologies pvt.ltd, Palarivattom, Cochin under the supervision of the concerned faculty and non teaching staff. Electrically sensitive equipment is provided with necessary back up to ensure steady functioning and to safeguard against voltage fluctuations. Staff and students freely utilize the ICT facilities in the classrooms and labs for academic purposes. The ICT facilities are regularly monitored and maintained by the concerned teachers in charge with the help of the support staff.

Library Maintenance
The college has an excellent library that occupies approximately an area of 4000 sq.ft. The library has more than 20000 books and a good collection of other reading and digital learning materials which is well maintained by the library staff. The library also subscribes Inflibnet’s NLIST membership to access e-resources. Internet browsing and reprographic facilities are provided in the library. The Library Committee ensures statutory maintenance, utilization and up gradation of library resources. Library is partially automated using ILS KOHA, an open-source automation software with bar coding and gateway register. All books are marked, classified and advantageously placed on the racks. The positions of the books are updated with the KOHA for easy retrieval. Annual stock of library resources is monitored and maintained in the library stock register. All books are periodically inspected for damages, if any and necessary binding is done if needed. CCTV is installed in the library to ensure the proper maintenance and utilization of the facilities. Separate library periods are included in the timetable to promote the use of library by students. Strict rules and regulations for use of the college library are in place. They are published in the college website and the handbook provided to the staff and students at the beginning of each academic year. Staff and students follow it for the optimal use of library resources.

Maintenance of Sports and Games Facility
The college has a UGC funded Indoor Stadium for volleyball and shuttle badminton. The college also has a Gymnasium for students with essential fitness equipment. The campus also has a Basketball Court. All sports equipment and play areas are cleaned and properly maintained by non-teaching staff under the supervision of the Physical Education Teacher. The college hosts an Inter-Training Collegiate Athletic Meet in alternate years. It also organizes an Inter Training College Teachers’ Shuttle Badminton Tournament. Co-ordination of and training for all sports and games activities organized by the college is done by the Physical Education Teacher, under the guidance of the Principal and the management.
