Principal's  Message

St. Joseph’s Training College founded in 1957 by CMI Congregation is continuing its service to the nation. Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of the CMI Congregation, was a great visionary who established schools during the first half of the 19th century. Now, there are several educational institutions at Mannanam.
St. Joseph’s Training College, Mannanam currently offers B.Ed and M.Ed programme. The college is located on the summit of Mannanam hills facing the backwaters of upper   Kuttanad and has an excellent ambience for learning. The college is equipped with modern infrastructure in tune with the requirements of the new era. We have students from different parts of the state and they live together as one community- the Josephites. The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2007. I am happy to observe that over the years, nurturing innovations and bringing about qualitative change in teacher education has been the guiding principles of the college. Today, the country needs more creative and innovative teachers to meet the unprecedented challenges and advantages of the vast opportunities presented by technological changes and globalization. Therefore there is a necessity to revamp our commitment to excellence in education. The college is managed by Congregation of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous religion congregation. We have a committed set of faculty members and administrative staff. Together we will continue to innovate and attract the best talent from across the country and build this institution from strength to strength and remain committed to excellence in meeting the challenges of the 21st century.

With best wishes

Dr. Varghese K. Cheriyan
