The institution has chalked out a plan of action for its future development in terms of academics, infrastructure and learning resources. The major schemes proposed to be undertaken are listed below.
The college plans to utilize the grants from UGC to improve its teaching learning resources; arrange invited lectures and talks of eminent teachers, scientists and social workers; conduct bridge courses wherever required; conduct more remedial classes; encourage innovative practices in teaching- learning process; conduct special coaching classes for handling technological devices; take initiatives for examination reforms; and encourage and help the non-teaching staff and students to achieve 100 percent computer literacy.
The college aims to start M.Phil. Course in Education and set up an advanced research centre in Education to improve research. It also plans to publish research abstracts of M.Ed. dissertations and to establish a research committee for promoting and directing research and for identifying topics and submitting research proposals to the various funding agencies for major and minor projects.
Mentoring through the formation of discussion groups and proctors, peer tutoring, introduction of journal writing in the specified format and peer evaluation of student teachers during practice teaching are also to be practiced. It has been decided to depute as many faculty members as possible to participate in the orientation, faculty improvement programmes, seminars, workshops and submit reports of the programmes attended by the faculties and arrange discussion forums based on the themes. The college plans to strengthen the library by increasing the number of books, its complete computerization with bar coding.
Providing computer education, a course in Communicative English, coaching for NET/SET/TET (Teacher’s Eligibility Tests) with special consideration for the SC/ST/OBC and minority students, arranging campus recruitment are planned by the college. The college plans to strengthen the Alumni activities by activating online registration in the college web site and building an online discussion forum.
The college plans to furnish a kitchen and a common recreation hall. Utilising UGC grants, the college also plans to purchase sports equipments and complete computerization of the college office. It has been decided for the Ex-situ conservation of rare and threatened endemic plants and maintain the campus naturally beautiful and Eco-Friendly.
Furnishing a new ceiling for the college auditorium, construction of an extension centre, and rooms for indoor games and providing additional toilet facilities, improving infrastructure facilities for all laboratories by procuring modern instruments and technological upgradation and also providing vending machines for snacks and drinks are all under consideration by the college management. We also plan to set up a digital sound system in the auditorium.
Extension of services of the Guidance and Counselling Cell to the neighbouring community, organizing science awareness programme for high school students, continuing the free tuition programme for the poor and needy students are also planned by the institution.
The college also wishes to strengthen the community services by starting free consultancy on environmental related problems such as plastic pollution and solid waste management, water pollution, water management and solar energy utilization and continue the community extension activities like mushroom cultivation, vermiculture, herbal garden, vegetable garden and butterfly park. The college has also plans to launch innovative educational programs and healthcare schemes to improve their quality of life.
